My boss at Del Vecchio Arquitects and I designed this affordable home as a vacation getaway for a elderly couple.

A small entry expands into a large  interior space. The home features an open kitchen, a family room, and an open bedroom. The family room opens onto a deck area that overlooks the Pacific Ocean.

The family room has ceiling fans and operable windows that allow for natural cooling all the time.  I made the construction plans, the renderings and the presentations.

Cabin on The Beach

This four-story vacation beach house is approximately 14,800 square feet. This home was designed for a single owner with three sons, each of them with his own family. The house provides a private space for each family with a basic kitchen, three bedrooms and a full bathroom. Each module has a balcony with a 260 degree view of the Pacific Ocean. There is a large common family room, kitchen, dining room, pool, terraces, theater, office, and domestic quarters. The principal module is a two-story loft with a full kitchen, wine cellar and private Jacuzzi. The project took about two years to complete, and we satisfied the needs and requests of the client successfully. I worked on the construction plans, 3D images, drawing details, and I was in constant communication with the engineers and foreman during the construction.

Faro escondido House

2009-2011

cUARROS

This apartment project was for a gated community in the central valley of Costa Rica. There are three different model homes, and a total of fifty-six houses in the community. Each house has a living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, and a terrace in the back. The second floor consists of the private areas, two or three bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

This home was designed for a young couple. They wanted a very modern and fresh looking home. This house sits on top of a narrow existing house. The entrance is a stairway that leads to the main level, which is a loft like space with the living room, kitchen and breakfast bar. An open stairway leads to the office, which  overlooks  the open living area.

This project consists of two houses on the same property. Very compact but functional houses that accomplished the needs of the owners. Each house included three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and an open living area.

Moravia

 2011

This house is located in a very affluent neighborhood. It is a luxurious house with large, open living areas. The colonial style of the house met the requirements of the gated community.

Hacienda del Bosque

2011

This luxurious house is located in the hills of one of the most popular beaches on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It consists of three separate structures joined by a wooden walkway with a pergola roof. In the living area, oversized sliding glass doors visually extend the space into the landscape. The placement of these three structures provides a perfect view to the ocean.

My thesis colleague and I designed this building with a commitment to the environment. The building has solar shades on the east side for the morning sun and on the west for sunsets. Operable windows provide natural ventilation in open work spaces with high ceilings. The interior gardens produce micro climates and a pleasant environment for the workers.
